As a marketer, it is always important to understand customers' pain points and desires. It would be more responsible if we can understand what customer's needs and wants for a product or service before we launches them.
Therefore, market research is a very powerful method to collect relative information about customers' concerns, desires and contacts.
How to get all these market research done?
We just need to send out a survey, collect the information, analyze the results and build your products/services.
Google Form is a very simple and free tool to create a market research survey.
Recently, I would like to write a blog about how to loss weight after having baby. Before I write the content, I created a simple survey for new moms.
In the survey, I added some multiple choices questions such as:
- Do you happy with your body now?
- Have you read any books or blogs about weight loss?
- Which way have you tried to loss weight?
The point to use multiple choices is to let moms feel relax and easy to answer the question. If the questions are too complex, they may not continue the survey.
I also added some "short answer" style questions. They allow moms to write their concerns about which part of body they want to make the change mostly? And What is the biggest challenges for them to loss weight?
By using this method, I can understand the pain points from moms, so I can have a clue about my content plan.
Next, I sent out the survey to some mom groups and social media, then I received some responses. My job is now is to review and analyze the results.
Google Form makes things very easy. It automatically builds a survey report for you in a visual way. After I review the result, I can see 66.7% of moms are not happy with their body now. I feel sorry for them, but it is a good sign for me. It means I may have a large potential audiences to read my blog.
For the short answer questions, moms desire to loss weight on belly and to tight their legs. And the most challenges for them are time concern and lack of patient. Most of them don't like to workout at all.
My potential audiences are aged between 26 to 35 years old. Basically, they are all young or new moms who desire to change their body and make them looks better.
Based on the result, I can have a clear understanding what kind of problems I could solve for them. Therefore I can write a blog to introduce some simple home exercises with baby to motivate moms to workout without any pressure.
