Five Tips For Creating Great Digital Strategy

Digital marketing is a hot topic right now. I feel digital world is so amazing! People search any information or buy things from website, Mobile and tablet directly. Digital world definitely offers us more choices and makes our life so convenience. Many companies start building customer relationship and doing business in the digital world.

Creating good digital strategy can help brands generate more online engagement, traffics and business. Before start building digital strategy, what kinds of things should company understand? Here are five tips to help you prepare a good digital strategy:

Tip One: Storytelling is Soul

"How to Teach Storytelling" shows that "an effective storyteller captures the attention of listeners and accomplishes the goal of telling the story, which may be entertain, convey information, teach an important life lesson, or persuade listeners to take action of some kind".

In my view, you need to know your passion and target audience before you build story. When you are telling your story, you must share WHY people should care. Without knowing "Why", people won't believe in you. You want your audience to feel belong to your story. Thus, you should tell what are your beliefs in your story. When people believe what you believe, you can win their hearts before minds! Then, they will trust your brand and become loyal customers.

Tip Two: "Content is King"

Creating meaningful and interactive content will increase customer engagement a lot! Your content should not focus on selling your products, but it should focus on telling your customer what you believe and sharing valuable information. In the interview with Sharon Tanton, she introduces several great tips for creating valuable content such as start with your customer by thinking common questions, focus deeper by build in-depth content, consider each stage of buying process, create numbered lists and be involved in your community.

In addition, inserting relevant photos and videos can make your content more interactive! People will enjoy reading your content and understand the key points easily. Videos and photos are very easy to remember, so people can quickly recall your brand. Therefore, as your content get more useful and creative, people are more likely to engage with your brand.

Tip Three: Data is Decision Supporter

Data can answer the questions such as "Where does your decision come from?" or "Can you give me any evidence?" When you start building the business plan, you need to research, collect and analyze relevant data to support your decision. Big data can provide logical information to interpret customer insights. Data also helps you to measure the business performance and to predict the future trends. If you show valuable data results to your customers, they are more likely to trust your brand message.

Tip Four: Social Media is Effective Distributor

Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Blog are very useful and effective media to deliver your brand messages to audience publicly. You can share brand news, meaningful content and creative pictures to engage with customers. You also can exchange messages with your customers or answer their questions on social media.

In order to earn the media, you need to design different social media strategies based on different platforms. Jay Baer introduces several steps to build effective social media strategy: build an ark, listen and compare, find the focus point, select success metrics, analyze your audience, state your passion, act like a person, and create a channel plan. If customers love what you share, they will share your message to other potential audiences. Therefore, social media turns your customers to be potential distribution team!

Tip Five: New Trends Bring New Opportunities

If you want your brand stay on the top of business, you need to pay close attention on new trends such as digital, culture, customer behavior, technology, and innovation. You can interpret new trends either from data or from news. The faster you adapt into new trends, the more new opportunities open to you. For example, Walt Disney custom Star War Storm-trooper figure by using 3-D printing in 2013. Walt Disney captured 3-D digital print trend to attract more visitors attention.

New trends can help you come up with break-through ideas for your products. Following new trends also brings fresh energy to your brand, so you could create more innovative products than competitorsPay attention on news trends also allows company to adjust business strategy to fit in the new environment.

Besides those five tips, you should also improve Digital User Experiences on different platforms such as laptop, mobile and tablet. Creating a user-friendly and simple website can allow customers access information easily. When people enjoy the digital experience, they will visit your website more frequently and share your website to others.

As more and more audiences love and share your story, your brand awareness will get wider. Creating unique digital strategy help you expand your market and increase customer engagement.
