Five Tips To Optimize Mobile Shopping Experience

Before, when I wanted to shop online, the first and only device was desktop. But now, when I go shopping, the first device is my phone. Mobile shopping Apps make my life much easier because I can shop anytime and anywhere.

According to 2019 M Commerce Statistic report, 49% of consumers use mobile phones for shopping. Over 62 million people in the US will use mobile payment. In 2018, mobile sales accounted for nearly 40% of all retail eCommerce sales in the US. Therefore, mobile shopping is not a shopping trend anymore but a shopping habit.

A great mobile shopping experience will deliver a great user experience. When users love a shopping app, they will not likely to delete it. Therefore, a good mobile shopping experience will build a stronger customer loyalty.

How to optimize mobile shopping experience?

Multi-Login Choices

Login & Sign up is the first step to welcome users to interact with a shopping app. Two or three login options can make users easy to access the app. When users are lazy to enter and verify emails to complete "long" sign up steps, they prefer to connect Facebook App to log in the app.

Connecting social media app to log in can make user feel easier and safer to use the app. Many people don't want to user their personal e-mail to register account because they don't want to deal with those trash e-mails.

Less Loading Time

Time is money. In the digital world, high-speed loading time is a basic requirement for an app because users don't want to wait. If an app is loading more than 2 seconds, users are more likely to drop the app.

Many apps show a "short" ad in the loading period. Users can either wait 3 seconds to skip the ad or pay a fee to remove all the ads. Again, users really hate this because they don't like to watch anything that unrelated to their needs, and they don't want to pay extra fee to remove ads.

Therefore, less loading time, zero ad, and zero fee will make users happy to use the app in long time.

Easy To Select Menu & Search Product

Mobile screen is much smaller than desktop screen. Therefore, the design of the menu is very important element for an app. A clear drop-down menu allows users to view and select the product category easily. With large text font and organized selections, users can read content well, so they can continue to interact with the app.

A big search bar on the top of the app homepage will allow users to directly enter the products that they are looking for. Search bar saves a lot time on finding the product from all the shopping categories. If the app can pop up some relevant product keywords, it will help users to get more specific search ideas.

High Quality Product Image

A good image can give users a good impression. High quality product images can increase the interaction time with the App.

For the product layout, each time shows four images is better. Appropriate image size can let users to see the full product clear and interact with the image to learn more details about the product.

Quick Transaction Process

The last step, make transaction is very important for users. Many users drop the transaction because they have a bad experience on transaction step. Ask too many details, unable to review the orders, hard to enter information, long payment time are all the main reasons that make users stop the transaction.

Therefore, app can build four simple steps to direct users finish the transaction, such as user basic information (name, address, email), credit card information, review the order, and place the order. The simple, the better.
