Google Ads Study Note: Five Types of Remarketing

Remarketing is one of the most effective and popular ways for advertisers. It is only advertising to people who have previously interacted with the brand via an app or a website.

There are five types of remarketing inside the Google AdWords:

#1: Standard

The standard remarketing is the display network and display network apps. Someone came to your website to explore some information and then left, then you want to show your ads on the Google display network like Bloomberg as that person continue to browse the website.

#2: Dynamic

The dynamic remarketing is specifically useful for e-commerce. It allows you to show ads for that specific product as that person continues to browse the web. For example, I went to the American Eagle website and find a new dress and then left the site. Then, I went to other websites, the American Eagle ad is on the corner of the site, and most importantly, the dress I just viewed is on the ad. For advertisers, it is an aggressive way to remind or reconnect potential customers to come back again.

#3: Remarketing for Mobile Apps

Remarketing for mobile apps targets people who have viewed your mobile app or viewed your mobile website. You want to show them ads on other mobile websites or other mobile apps. For example, recently I viewed a skin product on the Sephora mobile website, and when I open my Facebook app, the ad from Sephora is shown on my newsfeed.

#4: Remarketing in Search

It is remarketing to visitors on Google search. It allows you to bid more broad with your keywords because someone has been to your site before, and they understand what you sell. Therefore, you could bid a little broader with your keywords without worrying about waste your money on bad clicks.

#5: Remarketing in Video

It is remarketing to people who viewed your video. Some brands like to create videos to increase brand awareness. Videos like educational content and product reviews are very popular. If you are promoting your video successfully and get a lot of viewers, it would be a great way to remarket to those audiences as they continue to view other websites.

In most cases, people will not make a purchase on their first visit. They may just read some information related to their questions or compare some products, but they have not ready to take further action. It is extremely important to continue to stay in front of your potential customers.
